Painting Poetry traces a living lineage through German-language poetry, art, literature, psychology, and contemporary culture. The collection begins with Goethe, whose work imbued everyday life with poetic significance and expanded the possibilities of erotic expression. It continues through Rilke’s vision of inner transformation and spiritual equality; Schiele’s radical portrayal of the human body; Jung’s theory of the shadow self; and Arthur Schnitzler’s exploration of fantasy and its psychological consequences within intimate relationships.

This lineage culminates in the contemporary work of Austrian artist Apollo Sissi, whose music, film, and fashion further the evolution of colloquial language through Deutschrap. To create the collection, AdorVita traveled to Vienna, Weimar, Zurich, and Berlin, visiting places connected to these figures and grounding the work in history, place, and lived experience.
